With the current economical climate are we concerned about our spending on leisure activities and is the cost of race entries putting you off?
As an event organiser who races a lot myself I fully understand the strains on paying for race entry fees. I have recently pulled out of a sprint triathlon that the entry fee what £315!
I am keen to keep our race entries fees down and work really hard to get the best value for money. It is tricky with the price rises from suppliers, insurance, and wanting the ensure the athlete gets the best race experience possible.
Here are a few ways you can keep the cost down too.
Early Bird Prices.
Most event organisers want people to enter early. It helps massively with budget planning, ordering the correct amount of medals, t-shirts etc. To encourage early entries they will offer big discounts if you enter before a certain date or the first x amount of entries.
Take full advantage of this, get organised and get entered. Also having that event booked in the diary also helps with motivation.
If you love racing then you know how much value marshals bring to events. Also event organsiers LOVE a happy friendly marshal. Some events will offer a free entry or a voucher as a thank you for marshalling so not only do you get a bit of insight into the event and having a great day out, you will get to repeat it all over again for free!
Are you a social media whizz, do you work in marketing, book keeper, good at copy writing, photographer? Think outside the box, offer your skills for free in exchange for a race entry? Certainly at Challenging Events we are a small team and would love to skill swap for race entries! Get in touch.
Rig and Race.
Events take a lot of people power to build. There is a lot of equipment that needs setting up, signs to put up/collect, cars to park, registration packs to pack and hand out. Check out if the race you want to do has a Rig and Race option. Get involved in building the event and packing it away after in return for a free race.
Become an Ambassador
The best form of marketing is word of mouth. It beats any facebook ad, email or google ad! If you have a large social media following or are prepared to blog/share you journey of your training why not chat to the event organiser about becoming an ambassador?
Hopefully these 5 easy ways will save money on those race entries!
Look forward to seeing you on the start line soon!
