Challenging Events is helping to support Project52 for Patrick Traylor, a paediatric physiotherapist working at Salisbury District Hospital. Patrick explains what he will be getting up to below:
"The Project52 challenge is about raising money for Youth Sport Trust in their mission to provide sport and physical activity opportunities to all children; https://www.youthsporttrust.org/. The challenge I have taken on is 52 events in 52 weeks. Starting on the 1st January 2022 I will complete parkruns to ultramarathons, sprint triathlons to adventure tris and many other various endurance challenges.
Daily inactivity causes serious issues for personal health and wellbeing and by partaking in the above event my aim is to raise awareness of this nationally. Unfortunately, 55% of children don't achieve their recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity and I hope by raising money for YST this will go some way to reduce this number. I was very fortunate to have access to sport from a very young age and this has provided me with incredible opportunities and experiences. I genuinely feel there is a sport or activity out there for every child, some just haven't been given the opportunity to find it yet.
If anyone reading this wants to get involved the best way to contact me is on Instagram @paddysproject52. If you want to have a look at my calendar (which is slowly filling up!) then check it out on @project52 | Linktree. On this link you’ll also find access to my fundraising page, the charity I’m raising for and also my poor attempt at a blog!”
Partick will be at our Romsey5, Winchester 10K, Buccaneer Dualthon and Hampshire Hilly Hundred events through the early months of the year. We wish him very good luck with his challenge!
